Knowing God intimately

By studying and meditating on the Scriptures, we learn about God’s character and plans for how we are to live our lives. It is through His Word that growing faith is built up in us as we develop an intimate relationship with Jesus, learning and understanding God’s plans for our lives.

As believers, we are enabled to communicate with Jesus in various ways. Prayer allows us to speak directly with God and draws us closer in our fellowship with Him. It is important that we are in a constant prayer relationship with Jesus and the Father daily.

However, the opportunity to gain more complete knowledge about Jesus comes when the Church gathers as a unit to study, pray and worship the Lord. Our love and adoration for God is expressed in our Worship of Him and draws us closer to Him.

Obedience to God

Obedience becomes a natural outgrowth of spending time studying, meditating in His Word, along with praying and worshiping Him. It is not merely about disciplining our lives or following rules, it is about growing more intimately in knowing Jesus, our Lord and Savior.

As we grow in our love for Jesus, obedience no longer becomes a burden but becomes a joyful response to handling our feelings and being closer to Him. We should turn to Jesus when our feelings have been hurt, or doubt, fear, becoming offended or disobedient. When we encounter these feelings, we need to bring these emotions to the Lord.

The key is to remain consistently in his Word allowing His Word to speak to us every day. Staying connected to Jesus and His Word will give us the power to handle negatives in our lives.

God’s Word has Power

When we approach the Scriptures with the intention of meeting Jesus there, God’s Word will lead us to a Greater level of intimacy and communion with Him. We come to know the truth, and the truth will set us free by immersing ourselves in God’s Word. “You shall know the truth, and the truth shall set you free.” (John 8:32) MEV.

The Bible is not simply something you read daily, but it is living and active, “For the Word of God is alive, and active, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, of the joints and marrow, and able to judge the thoughts and intents of the heart.” (Hebrews 4:12) MEV

Everything you need in Christ can be found in the scriptures, and they can open the door to Jesus who will consistently supply the needs of your life, as you seek Him.

Seek first the kingdom of God

You can begin to know who you are once you know who Jesus is. Don’t overcomplicate the Christian walk, simply seek first the Kingdom, “But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.” (Matthew 6:33) MEV.

God wants to add His righteousness to your life above all. So, expect God’s grace to be enough to cover your circumstances every day. And when you seek His kingdom first, expect His patience, obedience, life, joy and every other need to be supplied to you as well. This is all done through Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior.

The Bible is God speaking to you. It belongs to you. You can have whatever you find in it if you receive it and act upon it daily. Continually remind yourself that the Word of God has power to overcome ALL the storms of life.
